Worskhop Session Description

​

Join nonprofit representatives from Thrive Youth Center and SARAH (South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless) as they offer participants strategies and resources to help combat some of the rising challenges associated with increased homeless rates among youth. This session will also engage participants in identity conversations related to race, gender, and sexuality.

Learning Outcomes

​

The participants will learn how to:

​

  • Express pride, confidence, and healthy self-esteem without denying the value and dignity of other people (Identity)  

  • Develop language and knowledge to accurately and respectfully describe how people (including themselves) are both similar to and different from each other and others in their identity groups (Diversity)  

  • Respond to diversity by building empathy, respect, understanding and connection (Diversity)

  • Recognize stereotypes and relate to people as individuals rather than representatives of groups (Justice)

  • Recognize their own responsibility to stand up to exclusion, prejudice and injustice (Action)
