Join our Dreeben School of Education Teacher Education Alumni , Adriana Moreno, as she identifies strategies that will help students analyze how messages are presented in the media to reflect social and cultural views. During this session, participants will also learn how to help students synthesize and make logical connections between ideas and details in several texts that reflect a range of viewpoints on the same topic and support those findings with textual evidence. â€‹

Learning Outcomes

The participants will learn how to help their students:

  • Respond to diversity by building empathy, respect, understanding and connection (Diversity)

  • Respectfully express curiosity about the history and lived experiences of others and will exchange ideas and beliefs in an open-minded way (Diversity)

  • Exam diversity in social, cultural, political and historical contexts rather than in ways that are superficial and oversimplified (Diversity)
