Who We Are
The UIW Teacher Induction Program was created in 2012 to provide graduates with high-quality support as they transition in to the teaching profession. The UIW Teacher Network was designed with three main facets: induction support, professional development, and professional networking.

UIW is a Nationally Accredited Program

UIW is a State and Nationally Accredited Teacher Preparation Program.  The UIW Teacher Education Department offers degree programs to prepare Texas certified teachers. Graduates of the UIW Teacher Education Program meet state licensure requirements established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

 

The Dreeben School of Education was first accredited by the TEA in January 1973 and maintains accreditation. The most recent continuing approval review was conducted in the spring of 2022.  TEA accreditation reviews are conducted every five years.

The University of the Incarnate Word is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. In January 2021, the UIW Teacher Education Department was first recognized with national accreditation.  AAQEP awarded full accreditation through December 31, 2028.
