Who We Are

We are the UIW Teacher Network at the University of the Incarnate Word in the Dreeben School of Education. We also serve as a bridge between teacher preparation and the teaching profession offering support to our graduates with an emphasis on the first three years of teaching. “As a first-year teacher, I was often overwhelmed with various tasks that teachers need to complete by the end of the day. I can not thank UIW enough for all the support they offered me over the course of my first year or teaching.”

UIW Teacher Network

The UIW Teacher Induction Program was created in 2012 to provide graduates with high-quality support as they transition into the teaching profession. The UIW Teacher Network was designed with three main facets: induction support, professional development, and professional networking.

2015 TEA Commendation

The University of the Incarnate Word received a commendation from the Texas Education Agency for its innovative teacher induction program, the UIW Teacher Network, which supports candidates after initial certification, during their first three years of teaching, to improve teacher retention in the profession.
