Spring into Literacy (Free)
Early literacy skills are a crucial foundation for young children to be successful readers and writers. Exposure to environmental print and picture books provide opportunities for students to develop these skills. In this session educators will learn strategies to create print rich environments.

About the event
Participants who attend the series will be able to:
- Understand the importance of selecting age-appropriate books for an early childhood classroom
- Select literacy materials to use in each of the classroom learning centers
- Identify elements that need to be in place for a successful read-aloud
- Purposefully plan for enhancing the classroom setting with environmental print
Audience: Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4
- Teachers
- Teacher assistants
- Child development center staff
- Coaches/Mentors
- Administrators /Directors
- Pre-service teachers
- Certified teachers not currently teaching but wanting training to remain certified
- Librarians
HIGHLIGHTS
- Recommendations for tools to promote a print rich environment
- Interaction with various genres of children’s literature
- Analysis of learning centers and creation of an action plan for incorporating literacy into the environment
- Four CPE hours will be given
