Using Zaretta Hammond's book, Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain: Promoting engagement and rigor among culturally and linguistically diverse students as the anchor text, Dr. Eva Allen will lead this workshop on how to incorporate culturally relevant teaching practices in school settings.

The UIW Teacher Induction Program was created in 2012 to provide graduates with high-quality support as they transition into the teaching profession. The UIW Teacher Network was designed with three main facets: induction support, professional development, and professional networking.

2015 TEA Commendation

The University of the Incarnate Word received a commendation from the Texas Education Agency for its innovative teacher induction program, the UIW Teacher Network, which supports candidates after initial certification, during their first three years of teaching, to improve teacher retention in the profession.​
